Nora, I wished you a Happy Birthday in Natter, because that's where I was when I read the Nilly prompt. But you're a Bitch, so...
Happiest of Birthdays, Nora!!!!!

My sister just called me for a radio contest about the quote "Klaatu barada nikto." I sadly screwed up and said Forbidden Plannet instead of The Day the Earth Stood Still.
I'm so ashamed.
Happy Birthday, Nora! I hope you get a treat today.
Probably one of the reasons he's your favorite professor. Sounds like a good guy.
He really is. Last week he made all of my interests coherent and cohesive and made me actually believe that they're all related and I'll be able to do something with them. That was very helpful to me.
I hope you get a treat today.
Tasty beer is on the horizon. Sadly, not for many hours yet.
Bitches, can I ask for some help? I'm about to send an e-mail turning down the job for the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy. Is this ok?
Thank you so much for meeting with me yesterday on such short notice. I really enjoyed meeting with you, learning more about you and the center. I was faced with a very difficult decision.
Unfortunately, I have decided to take the research assistant position with the Center for Social Development and Education. I want you to know what a difficult decision this was for me to make. I know I would enjoy working with you, Donna and the Center, and what the Center does is very important to me. But, I decided to take the research assistant position because it is in my field of study and will give me hands-on experience that will likely help me in my education.
I wish you much luck in finding someone and hope that we can possibly work together in the future.
Thank you again!
That sounds good, IMO, vw.

I'd cut the "Unfortunately" at the beginning of the second paragraph. I don't know why, but I would.
I would also cut the "But" from
But, I decided to take the research assistant position because it is in my field of study and will give me hands-on experience that will likely help me in my education.
...at the end of the second paragraph.
It's a good letter though, vw. Just the right tone.

I like amy's edit.
On second thought, I agree with Cindy about the "Unfortunately"
