There are sodas elsewhere that are made with sugar instead of HFCS?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yay, VW!

Yep. Most places other than the US, actually.
For diabetics or those who have other blood sugar uses, I can understand table use of sugar substitutes. For people who can metabolize sugar, since a teaspoon of sugar only has 16 calories, I don't understand consuming the sugar substitutes in coffee, or on a bowl of cereal. Does anyone here do that?
Soda's a different issue. If someone were telling me to give up my coffee, I'd have to stop drinking it long enough to decide if I should stab them or mock them, so I understand the soda junkies, and I understand why they choose diet soda, for both taste and calorie-watching measures. I was a soda junkie for a long, long time.

Congrats, vw!
I've heard differing things about Splenda. Some push the dioxin theory, others say that's crap. And I haven't felt moved to see if it's the US Sugar Manufacture's Association promoting the former and Splendid Splenda Inc. on the latter. It seems to come down to whether the chlorine is linked to the rest of the molecule in a covalent or ionic fashion, I think. If it's ionic, then it's no more dangerous than NaCl. If it's covalent, then dioxin's yer uncle.
YAY vw!

Yes. Canada, for one. There is a standing rule among my friends that if someone goes to Canada, they have to bring back bottles of tonic water, Coke, SPF60 sunblock, and possibly 222s.
What the hell is HFCS and why would you put it in a fizzy drink instead of sweet delicious sugar?
For those who have seen me and know I am shaped like a potato, what should I wear to the serenity premiere thing? I have nothing pretty/flattering, and it's making me a little sick. The only thing i have that fits okay are a couple of business suits, and I'll feel foolish going in one. I can probably spring for a new top, but everything I've looked at looks matronly.
I'll take makeup/hairstyle tips, anything that can make me feel dressed up, knowing that I can't do so much with clothes.
Please, I'm begging for fashion/style advice on a budget of 53 cents.
High fructose corn syrup.
It's cheaper, here.
edit...
That was to Jars, not Allyson, obvo.
