Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
It Might Get Loud - looks like a fun movie. It's a documentary with Jack White, the Edge and Jimmy Page all talking (and playing) guitar.
I mean, it's not as if Kid Rock has a top 10 country single or something.
He's actually talked about doing country at some point. And he did record a song with Willie Nelson.
Pssst, Amy http://countrycentral.wordpress.com/2008/05/27/single-review-all-summer-long-by-kid-rock/
I did actually like that Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow kinda country song.
Yeah, Perkins, there's that (although I HATE that song). But I think he's also talked about how rock stars can sort of age into country if they don't want to be, um, Brett Michaels. For instance. ::shudders::
Amazon's deal of the day: Love's Da Capo for $0.99.
I'm listening to Mary Chapin Carpenter's time*sex*love* and remembering just what a good album, beginning to end, it is.
Leading contender for most bizarre murder ballad ever:
The bizarre murder ballad “Pearl Bryan” certainly sticks out, given its improbable plot line (apparently based on a true event) which tells the story of two dentists who behead a woman after a botched abortion in order to escape detection, only to be caught in the end because she has, believe it or not, webbed feet.
For the Twee Indie Pop fans...
An interesting blog project where the writer compares tracks from the seminal indie collection ...One Last Kiss with contemporary bands, track for track.
You'll get a sense of it here with this comparison of Lois Maffeo's "Baseball Bat" with Cars Can Be Blue's "Do You Remember? which sports the near-perfect angsty chorus, "What is wrong with me? / Why won't anyone love me?"
Just follow the One Last Kiss tag to see all the entries. I discovered several new (to me) bands of interest like Pants Yell and Tiny Microphone.
