The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

It's definitely moving north of L.A. - there's been more than a few Deathrock bands looking for more members/people looking to start a Deathrock band up here.

Really? That's awesome. There's a Deathrock/post-punk night once a month here in Seattle. It seemed to have decent attendance the few times I've gone, even if it was lacking in the people dressed up aspect.

Since the discussion in here has, of late, turned frequently to adorable boys in rock bands, I should mention that I spent part of today as first AD on a music video for a speed metal band called Age of Evil. They're out of Scotsdale. They're very much in the vein of Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Megadeath, those sorts of bands.

The thing is, the oldest member of the band just turned eighteen a couple of days ago. I think the youngest member is sixteen. They were SO ADORABLE.

Adorable little Jewish boys and their speed metal band. The adorableness was only compounded by the fact that they were there all day with their loving and supportive parents. Yep. The four piece band is made up of two sets of brothers, and both sets of parents are behind their kids all the way. They were funding the video, and had built an addition to one of their houses so the kids could have a rehearsal space. ADORABLE!

They have one CD out, and are working a new one. They also just signed with a label (no idea which one, my impression was that it was a pretty indy label).

Tomorrow, there will be pictures. Now I go to fall down.

Like, soon he will ::smish:: them and say "OH HIS FACE!"

(These are not bad things, btw, Sean. One of Us. One of Us. )

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Fucking fuckholes, the whole Them catalog is OOP and consequently going for around $40 bucks.

How can a band as important as Them be out of print?

Shit, Van's first band does the definitive versions of "It's All Over Baby Blue" and "Richard Cory" much less "Gloria."

How can a band as important as the Feelies be out of print?

Anyway, on another note, watch and be amazed: [link] Maybe even shed a tear for any soul unfortunate enough to have shared a stage with these guys on that particular day.

Definitely one of the greatest live bands ever. Just a monster when they locked in.

Larry Graham is, of course, godlike, but I have a special affection for Cynthia Robinson (the trumpeter) who was just So. Freakin'. Cool.

There are rumors of a box set reissue of some sort.
