How was Laurie Anderson?
Really really good. It was a new work that I guess will be out on disc this summer called Homeland. It definitely had some moments of political commentary, but it was mainly about the feeling of having lost your country from different perspectives. Very spare stage set up (candles and dangling lights plus musicians) and it was just her and three other musicians.
Unfortunately, musically it was very mellow (though gorgeous) and I was exhausted that day, so I actually started nodding a little towards the end, which was embarassing because I was in the front row.
I tend to go to concerts with a posse of underage fangirls, although two of them recently (finally) turned 21, so at least I'm not the only one with a wristband.
Huh. Really? That young? I've always picture the Chicago crew as older than that!
The posse I met up with at Cobra Starship were all old enough to be in the bar.
ETA: I go to a lot of shows at small venues that are about $10 a pop, or even free, and I take public transit to get there, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it.
Me too with the small venues, if not the public transit. But depending on the venue, I can walk home (and that will be much more frequently when amyth and I move in June).
I've gotten so spoiled going to see Lucero and Cory Branan and Corb Lund and such that I find myself bemused when I don't get to talk to the band. And like shrift, I've been waved at from the stage.

Maybe my perception is skewed because I'm in the minority? And usually the oldest? Chicago media fandom in general definitely isn't that young, but most of them don't go to shows.
I just read that Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed got married in Colorado.
I haven't been to a show of any sort for a shamefully long time.

Huh. I know they've been involved for years (possibly over a decade at this point). Surprised they finally made the move.
Why didn't I know about the Horrorpops until after they'd already come through Chicago on tour this year?
Because one more concert would have killed you?

I missed seeing them too, shrift.
The next concert I'm attending is Peter Murphy, who is playing at a tiny all-ages club. I'm going with my fellow ElderGoth (who is also my gay stunt husband), and we're planning on getting EXTREMELY dressed up and being Gother than everyone.
My next show is the Breeders on Tuesday night - SQUEE!!!
