I've always picture the Chicago crew as older than that!
Maybe my perception is skewed because I'm in the minority? And usually the oldest? Chicago media fandom in general definitely isn't that young, but most of them don't go to shows.
'Objects In Space'
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I just read that Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed got married in Colorado.
I haven't been to a show of any sort for a shamefully long time.

Huh. I know they've been involved for years (possibly over a decade at this point). Surprised they finally made the move.
Why didn't I know about the Horrorpops until after they'd already come through Chicago on tour this year?
Because one more concert would have killed you?

I missed seeing them too, shrift.
The next concert I'm attending is Peter Murphy, who is playing at a tiny all-ages club. I'm going with my fellow ElderGoth (who is also my gay stunt husband), and we're planning on getting EXTREMELY dressed up and being Gother than everyone.
My next show is the Breeders on Tuesday night - SQUEE!!!

True. I suppose it's just as well. I don't have anything to wear to a psychobilly concert, anyway.

Hee! See, I never have this problem, because I think High Victorian Cupcake Goth is an appropriate look for all musical events. I wore petticoats and pink & black stripes to the Ozzy/Rob Zombie show last year; I got there before my friends, and when I found my seat and sat down, the two metalhead boys who were next to me did a goggle-eyed double take, and then very respectfully asked if I was meeting someone, or was I there on my own, because if I was by myself, they would make sure no one hassled me. So cute!

Bless.

Black boots, jeans, A-shirt, lots of metal-studded accessories, deathglare. No prob.
