Instead of doing the lame, torch jazz versions I expected she and TV On The Radio guy use Tom's songs as an excuse to create a really lush, sort of Mercury Rev's Deserter's Songs baroque pop album.
I read an interview with Scarlett where she talked about originally just trying to cut the songs with a band, and that she hated the results because they sounded too generic. That's when she brought in the producer on the album, who agreed as long as the could mix things up a bit. I'm curious to hear it.
Not looking forward to that nearly as much as the new Portishead, though.
In JilliLand, NO ONE covers songs from Nightmare Before Christmas.
What if it was Bowie?
... that's a good question. Because I pretty much feel the same way about anyone covering Bowie songs (Bauhaus' cover of Ziggy Stardust being the sole exception). I'm having a hard time imagining a Bowie rendition of any NMBC song, tho'.

What if it's a video, and Bowie dresses up like the Goblin King? And dances with Mick Jagger....
Now you guys are just taunting her. Be nice to Jilli!

Mick Jagger, ew. Remember, I'm the heathen who can't stand him.

Yeah, what he said! Be nice to the flu-stricken goth.

I can certainly create one!
I would be interested in this newsletter as well. Will it be filmed and shown every Christmas? Or Halloween? Or Halloween and Christmas?
