Because books.

However, MCR once covered Bowie/Queen's Under Pressure (along with The Used), a song I considered sacrosanct. I *loved* the cover.

It's so good. I adore it.

Ooooh!

Now I want to see the video.

I never really watch videos any more. I mostly blame this on MTV, for not really playing videos any more. (Don't know if that's actually still the case, what with not watching any more, but it's why I stopped)

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

MTV still does not, but this is why I love YouTube. All of a sudden, videos again!

Speaking of covers, probably my favorite is the Stripped version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" sung just by Patrick, with his electric guitar. It's raw and imperfect and gets me every single time. I ration myself on it.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I first became interested in MCR when Pete (my Pete, not Pete Wentz) showed me the major label video for "I'm Not Okay".

Yeah, that video caught my attention. Came out while I was in Peace Corps, which meant that I was devouring any American pop culture I could. Many a time I stayed with fellow volunteers in the capital and was up all hours simultaneously scouring Rolling Stones their friends had sent and watching MTV (actual music videos). I also recall from that era Muse's cover of "Feeling Good" and Shakira's "Wherever, Whenever." The latter started me on my path to bellydance.

Coincidentally, I'm choreographing the Nina Simone version of "Feeling Good" (for the 2nd time) and am thinking about doing one for Muse... same choreo with a different vibe or 2 choreos, not sure.

Oh, I have an amazing live version of Muse's cover of "Feeling Good" somewhere. Love love love.

Sean, here's the MTV version of "Under Pressure": [link]

The other was a live version from Warped, I think.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Here is why I love YouTube! I watched that. Then I watched Never Tear Us Apart. Then I watched Stuck In A Moment.

I mostly listened to them, actually. Its like a jukebox for my brain.
