I've seen honest faces before. They usually come attached to liars.

Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Eh, the bits I saw of the local indie-pop scene were just as bad in terms of regrettable sexism as the grunge scene.

They were kinda hopelessly intertwined, after all.

(And anyhow, I think Jilli was well on her way to escaping the clutches of the music scene, if she hadn't already, by the time Sleater-Kinney came around.)

Heh. There is that.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

but Kim Deal is still God.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Thanks for the congratulations... I'm breathing again for the first time in four weeks.

Since I have big fannish love for both Los Lobos and Paul Simon and literally cannot imagine any major event of the first quarter century of my life without, well, every damn thing Simon ever wrote as the soundtrack, I'm going to have to wilfully ignore the very existence of that article lest I die of sadness.

Sorry, in my pantheon that position is held by David Bowie. With Peter Murphy as his prophet.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

The best thing about seeing My Chemical Romance live is realizing that Gerard Way really is just that dorky and campy and ridiculous and fantastic in real life. Between the high jumps and the scarves and pantomiming the words so the audience could sing along... well, as Fay would say, bless! I adore him, and them, and they put on an incredible show.

He is! He is! He's a dorktastic drama geek turned rockstar, and I love him for it.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Jilli, I'm an avid grunge fan (well, I'm young). And I'd really, really, really like to read more about the sexist side of it (you'd think that I'd cover it with my undying admiration and ability to talk about The Afghan Whigs by now...).

Please, tell more? I was always fascinated by the reciprocal relationships of music and society.

Our wings are not tired.

(So sorry, I didn't realize I was in the music thread when I asked about JZ's job! Didn't mean to go off track. Sorry! But still, YAY!)
