Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

The Pogues are playing at the Riviera March 5 and 6. I know aurelia was interested when I mentioned it at dinner, but I wondered if any other Chicagoistas might want to go.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I have grown to the conclusion that his songs would be much better, and much more popular, if many of the dissonances, or "wrong notes," were removed.

Isn't this in the same vein as "Careful analysis of P. D. Q. Bach's waltzes reveal that his left leg was two inches shorter than his right leg"?

Ann, that's a ferret.

Now on the radio -- Amy Winehouse cover of "Cupid." Yes, "Cupid/Draw back your bow." With a pop-reggae beat.

And it really works.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Neat! I'll be looking out for that.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hec's book arrived yesterday! We have been listening to a lot of Mr. Waits in order to properly prep for reading it.

Saw U2 3D last night on the IMAX screen and I totally dug it. It really is like having the best seat at a concert--a seat which swoops over the drums, right up to Bono and all over the venue--in crisp, perfect detail. The 3D is used in some cool and non-gimmicky ways too, like overlaying one image over another. Go! See!

Whee! I like a reader that does their homework.
