That Suzi Quatro sure plays a mean guitar.
No, I will never get tired of that joke.
Wash ,'The Message'
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I never noticed how much Rick Derringer looks like Suzi Quatro before. He's even her (tiny) height.
If I'm not mistaken that's dapper Dan Hartman on funky bass. He would go on to have some solo hits during the disco era.
Oh! Fiona, thanks for the Gomez recs. And I'd love to hear rarer stuff.

I'd swear I've joked on a few occasions that Leather Tuscadero was Rick Derringer's greatest performance next to "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo".
How's the book going? Ignore that if it's a bad question.

Jonathan Lethem says, "Hi!"
Actually I should have the book done by the end of this month.
So...I like it! I wrote the kind of book that I'd want to read.

So tapping my foot impatiently is an OK response?
Can't even pre-order the damn thing yet grumble grumble
runs away
Wow, you talked to Jonathan Lethem? This is a total thread hijack, but I thought "Fortress of Solitude" and "Motherless Brooklyn" ruled. Actually FoS has all kinds of music in it(and some of my favorite kind) so it's only a partial hijack. Hec, whenever you are done, I promise I'll read it, however amateurishly, so I will stop thinking of Mr. Waits as the Guy My Dad Likes Who Wrote The Wire Theme Song(although, of course, I think that's awesome)

Okay my secret dream is that they ask my band to cover that for the last season. They haven't had a garage pop (or whatever we are) version of it yet! It's time, right?!?!
That would rule! And I could freak people out and say "I know them! No, we haven't met f2f yet. But I still know them." Not that I don't freak people out with my command of cornerspeak already, but... it never gets old. You feel me?
So, at Fiona's suggestion, I have purchased Gomez' Liquid Skin. Gomez is a fantabulous band for listening to on headphones, which is pretty much the primary method I use for listening to music these days. I got tired of having to replace my crappy $20 computer speakers every six months, and I wound up getting a pair of high quality studio cans for my sound tech work, and thanks to having a removable 1/4 inch plug that converts to a mini plug, I can just plug the cans into the back of the computer. It's now spoiled me for listening to music. Especially bands (like Gomez) that play with the stereo mix.
It feels like an easter egg that you find not by uncovering the secret hidden place in the product, but by choosing the correct method for using the product.
