joe, thanks for the Prine/DeMent link. Some friends of ours had the lyrics to In Spite of Ourselves printed on their wedding program.

Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Oh, Jilli, I think you need to see this.
The Gothics - a BBC feature from 1987. Dave Vanian and others.
Oh! Look at them all! Man, I miss having a real goth scene.
Bonus for Jilli, Black Parade art pad drawing
Another one for Jilli, rare Lene Lovich doing "Mata Hari" onstage. Very cupcake goth.
Also? Nina Hagen doing "Ziggy Stardust"
Cool! Stereolab plays "Les Ypres Sound" on Jools Live.
Nina Hagen doing "Ziggy Stardust"
I'm having one of those "somene else has heard of her???" moments.
My brother's friend picked up a record (all in German) in the import section because it had a cool cover. Her cover of White Punks on Dope has been a party fixture since then.

In this thread, you can be assured that "someone else" has heard of pretty much anyone you can imagine. Except the Fire Engines.
Ulele, New Rob Robbies, The Polkaholics
Y'know, I don't know if I mentioned it, but I was surprised when I figured out that the Fire Engines were one of the non-Mekons/non-Gang of Four bands on the Fast Product compilation from 1979. Which means I've had some of their songs in my collection forever, but just didn't realize it.
And hey! Dig the Stereolab clip.
