Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I had, like, 20 minutes of free time last week.

Cor, that's not even enough time for a game of Cities and Knights! Tragic.

I know! (sob)

We are so very ready. Except for the whole "having everything ready" aspect of being ready. Is there a condition for being ready to have something finished even if you know you are, in some ways, unprepared for it?

well I'm sure the Germans have a word for it!

(I know EXACTLY what you mean anyway)

In random music related news, I found this flickr group today: [link]

(super random because I found it in relation to my friend asking how I felt about "crusty old guys" because she was thinking she might try to set me up with someone from lungfish. hahaha)

Anyway, I need to find a scanner and upload a ton of old pictures!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I can think of no better form of psychotherapy for inpatients at a mental health center than a live concert by the Cramps. See for yourself. >[link]

eta: Apparently, the video was taken in 1978....

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ahhh, the infamous Napa mental institute concert.

I used to watch that video back in the early eighties.

Do you know the story behind it? Like, how did they get that gig? How did it go over? (At least some patients were inspired to dance. OTOH, one can be seen reading a newspaper.)

The Cramps thought it would be a legendary thing to do. (Which apparently it has turned out to be.)

And the mental hospital thought, "Hey! Free music. Why not?"

As you can see in the video several of the inmates hopped around and seemed to enjoy themselves. If I'm not mistaken one of them comes up to the microphone and sings along with Lux. They don't have a stage - they just play on the floor of the cafeteria, I think.

I love their cover of that song. And yes, now I can see they're super-cute.

Cool.

eta: I think I love their cover of "Ever Fallen in Love" a little more. Maybe not quite as much cute in this video, though: [link]
