Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did John write "Working Class Hero"? I think I just have one version of that song by someone else....

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Yes, it's on his (as opposed to Yoko's) Plastic Ono Band LP.

I will also go on record and say that Yoko's POB has one awsome song, "Why", which sounds like she and John invented skronk almost ten years earlier than anyone else. She's doing her horrific tuneless caterwauling thing, but, in the context of John's gnarly guitar abuse and the thud/bash/throb of Ringo and Klaus Voorman, for once it works.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

"Why" Rocks! I've played it on my radio show several times. First time I heard it I thought, "That's where the Butthole Surfers got their sound!"

Heh. I wouldn't be surprised if I heard "Why" on your show. I KNOW I heard it on MBR (that's the station, right?) when I heard it the first time, and it grabbed me by the throat and slammed me around my cubicle (back when I could listen to music at my desk - one of the few things I miss about that job). I wouldn't say it's worth price of the whole album for anyone else necessarily, but it was worth it for me.

Yep. It was probably me. I don't know anyone else who's played it. Neat!

Hey Jon - did you ever find the Freezepop song "Melonball Bounce" at MBR?

No! We didn't get it. Grrrrr!

OK. I think I'll try to grab it from the mp3 stream then.

My favorite post-Beatles John Lennon song wasn't actually recorded by John Lennon. (The song is NSFW).

Scola, thanks for that link. That MP3 was awesome, and it was good to hear it again. I used to have that entire National Lampoon album, and I miss it frequently.

I love the Beatles. They're B's favourite band now, too, and it's been wonderful watching him discover them. He started with the Red Album, and asked for the Blue Album for his fifth birthday. Sometimes we have to pretend to be the Beatles, and strum our imaginary guitars or drum - he's either Paul or Ringo - and (after I showed him some clips on YouTube) bow neatly at the end.
