Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

we got about an hour and a half into a game of Cities & Knights of Catan when people started peeling off, so we had to call the game early.

That's just wrong. Almost as wrong as me losing at Acquire to the newbie.

HAPPY BELATED B-DAY, COR!

So, on the subject of bouncy, upbeat songs with very sad lyrics, I've been listening to Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi, which is one of the best examples of the form. I think Joni's little laugh over her silly vocal stylings at the end of the song just makes it worse. Like a little knife twist.

Still a very pretty song, though.

Many thanks, y'all!

I somehow managed to twist my ankle and my periodic tendonitis is killing me, so I've been hobbling around the house in pain almost all day, as if my body decided to say, "Welcome to the first day of the 2nd half of your life!"

Happy Belated Birthday, CI. May you avoid further injury and sell a zillion copies of your Thompson book in the year ahead.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So, I just heard Freezepop's song "Melonball Bounce"...

Is this track too new to be on eMusic and iTunes? I must have it! (Link goes to the point where the song starts in a webcast of the full program.)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Damn, that song is over-the-top even by Freezepop standards.

Tommy, if WMBR has the CD (which we should -- the band is local after all), I'll get it onto buffistarawk. Might take me a little while as I won't be visiting there for a few days.
