I tell you I have this theory. It goes where, you're the one who's not my sister. Cuz mom adopted you from a shoe box full of baby howler monkeys, and never told you cuz it could hurt your delicate baby feelings.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

EL PERRO DEL MAR performing live and acoustic

SUNDAY, MARCH 11th 4:00 p.m.

Right here, at AQUARIUS RECORDS 1055 Valencia Street (btwn 21st and 22nd)

Folks around here have been mighty captivated by the dreamy pop sounds of El Perro Del Mar, aka Miss Sarah Assbring, and now we get a rare opportunity to experience her sweet shimmery song stylings in person, all acoustic and intimate. Imagine the aural equivalent of a vintage Margaret Keane painting... y\'know, those saucer-eyed, forlorn ragamuffins who sort of resemble Hope Sandoval. Quite girlish and just a little bit tweaked, she combines Brill Building pop with the voice of a kittenish Kate Bush or Jane Birken. Her songs are sweet confections of love’s seemingly cruel humor, heavily influenced by the doo-wop arrangements of Bacharach and Phil Spector. Catchy and occasionally melancholy, El Perro Del Mar\'s debut is one of the best sensitive pop records of last year. Come hear some of those songs performed live, right here in our cozy little store, super personal, stripped down, acoustic and live!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hec should go to this:

Heh - JZ just alerted me to this act yesterday.

heavily influenced by the doo-wop arrangements of Bacharach and Phil Spector

Hmph. Spector and Bacharach did not arrange doo-wop songs.

JZ's article said Girl Groups by way of Velvet Underground.

I lean Spector more than Bacharach on her sound. Her song "God Knows (You Gotta Give To Get)" is a near-perfect slice of Girl Group music with a modern ironic razor wit. One of my favorite tracks of last year.

Did anyone already post the outcry over Prince's appearance at the Super Bowl? That's the source of my awesome tagline: [link]

Damien Rice and Ray Lamontague acoustic duet for The Beegee\'s \"You Don\'t Know What It\'s Like.\"

Mostly, I\'m wondering if there\'s a rule that soulful emotastic male singer-songwriters aren\'t allow to shave or cut their hair.

There was much mocking over in Natter or Bitches; can't remember which.

I wish I'd caught that because reading those complaints made my day.

Corwood: Strega "Natter Five-O: Book 'Em, Danno." Mar 7, 2007 2:29:51 pm PST

That will take you to where it started, so you don't have to slog through Natter.

Thanks, Frank! That was fun.
