Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Oh. My. Gawd.

This ad ran during the Oscars: [link] (click on "morning ritual")

The song is the Pogues, "Sunny Side of the Street" and the lyrics (broadcast, albeit incomprehensibly) are:

So I saw that train
And I got on it
With a heart full of hate
And a lust for vomit
Now I'm walking on
On the sunny side of the street

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

So. Huh. Is it supposed to be ironic or is it like when Reagon chose Born in the USA as his campaign song?

My guess? The ad folks figured that anyone who knows the song will be hip enough to find it funny, and anyone who doesn\'t know the song will be incapable of deciphering Shane\'s mumbling drawl.

My friend John's band the Dexateens playing a song that John wrote 12 years back when we were in a band together. My various bands since have always covered this song and Parks & Wildlife has, in fact, recorded it for an upcoming ep. John, who sings the song, does not appear in this video.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
