Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

There must be some songs about bacon out there, right. I mean, it\'s BACON!

There\'s a great punk tune called \"Makin\' Bacon\" by The Pork Dukes. Rumor was that they were Steeleye Span in disguise.

hip deep in pie

There was an Australian band named Big Pig, who had a hit with thier song Breakaway in the '80s.

And sigh, there was a local band named Piggy, who's founder Paul has been the news for very sad reasons, but I don't have any of their recordings.

Art Crawl!!!

Was that Feelies cover of "Dancing Barefoot" on a flexi-single that came with a magazine? Because I'm sure I have or had that.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Because I'm sure I have or had that.

I'm sure I have to have that.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Feelies "Dancing Barefoot".

I don't know if the link is still active since I can't use it at work.

eta: I checked. It looks like it's still available. Somebody should grab it quick, since I'm afraid it will be gone by the time I get home.

But several versions are available there.

eta: Also this person misses the Feelies

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Okay, I've sent "Les Bourgeois" by Jacques Brel and MC Solaar's "Bouge de là", where he fends off a woman's advances with the line "non merci c'est très gentil mais je ne mange pas de porc" ("no thank you, that's very sweet, but I don't eat pork").

I've also sent a Word file with lyrics for both.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It looks like it's still available. Somebody should grab it quick, since I'm afraid it will be gone by the time I get home.

What Hec said.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

From that missing the Feelies blog post, he lists some of their many covers. Makes your mouth water.

They were also the ultimate cover band with the ability to strip down another artist’s song and strip it down to its purest, Feelies-like element. These included Iggy Pop’s "Funtime," The Stooges’ "Real Cool Time," MC5 ’s "Looking At You," The Stones’ "Paint It Black," Love’s "Little Red Book," Brian Eno’s "Third Uncle" and "King’s Lead Hat," The Beatles’ "Everybody’s Got Something To Hide" and "She Said She Said," Neil Young’s "Sedan Delivery," "Barstool Blues" and "Powderfinger," Wire’s "Mannequin" and "Outdoor Miner," The Modern Lovers’ "Roadrunner," Patti Smith’s "Dancing Barefoot," Television’s "See No Evil," and over a dozen Velvets covers.

Quiz: "King's Lead Hat" is a word jumble for what band?

Also? I love "Outdoor Miner."
