There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It looks like it's still available. Somebody should grab it quick, since I'm afraid it will be gone by the time I get home.

What Hec said.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

From that missing the Feelies blog post, he lists some of their many covers. Makes your mouth water.

They were also the ultimate cover band with the ability to strip down another artist’s song and strip it down to its purest, Feelies-like element. These included Iggy Pop’s "Funtime," The Stooges’ "Real Cool Time," MC5 ’s "Looking At You," The Stones’ "Paint It Black," Love’s "Little Red Book," Brian Eno’s "Third Uncle" and "King’s Lead Hat," The Beatles’ "Everybody’s Got Something To Hide" and "She Said She Said," Neil Young’s "Sedan Delivery," "Barstool Blues" and "Powderfinger," Wire’s "Mannequin" and "Outdoor Miner," The Modern Lovers’ "Roadrunner," Patti Smith’s "Dancing Barefoot," Television’s "See No Evil," and over a dozen Velvets covers.

Quiz: "King's Lead Hat" is a word jumble for what band?

Also? I love "Outdoor Miner."

Thanks, Megan!!! And, hey, if you'd want to make a trip west on feb. 17th you'd be welcome at the New Year party. It's always a blast with amazing food.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Thanks - I grabbed The Feelies' cover...

Damn. I think I have to have all of those (if they exist) (all the ones I don't have, anyway).

eta: x-posty!

Quiz: "King's Lead Hat" is a word jumble for what band?

Duh. Talking Heads .

That's not Washington's birthday is it? If so, I can't get away since that is the biggest weekend of the year here.

hmm...it might be. We have no official holidays here until Memorial day so I've lost track. We do have 3 floating holidays and i'm taking this Monday off and Tuesday. Take that, The Man!

Why is Washington's b'day so big there?

He founded the college, and, um, it's named after him. There is no escaping George here.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Btw, I expect this is obvious but I've only started doing this recently. Doing the blog search on Google is the fastest way I've found for nabbing obscure music tracks. It's much more efficient than the general Google search.

That Feelies cover of "Dancing Barefoot" is awesome!

Am now listening to the version by The Mission U.K. Not quite as awesome! (But still interesting. But something about his voice on this song bugs me.)
