Thank you, sir!
And a whole store. Wow. Diehards...die hard, I guess.
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Thank you, sir!

Mischa -- I love "Disconnect the Dots" by Of Montreal but their other stuff has been a little too gimmicky for me.

don't forget "Tupelo" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Cursing myself for not being here in time for the thread name discussion. I would've added: "Buffista Music III: The Search for Spock's Beard
I need to get a list of songs about, or at least mentioning, New Orleans.
"The Battle of New Orleans" - Johnny Horton
"The House of the Rising Sun" - The Animals
The theme from Maverick
"Proud Mary" - Creedence Clearwater Revivial
I Wish I was in New Orleans - Tom Waits
I need to get a list of songs about, or at least mentioning, New Orleans. (My friend has actually been working on compiling these for a while, but this week's events have brought it into focus.) Anything actually recorded in NOLA would be especially good, as I am going to be writing a tribute thing based on those.
Somewhere in the last thread is a list of New Orleans artists. Check here and here.
Songs about/mentioning NOLA:
Dancin' in the Streets -- Martha and the Vandellas, among others
Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans -- I think Harry James, among others
New Orleans Ladies -- LeRoux
New Orleans -- Gary "U.S." Bonds
Walkin' to New Orleans -- Fats Domino
Way Down Yonder in New Orleans -- Freddy Cannon did a rock version, and there are many jazz versions
Mardi Gras Mambo -- Hawketts (actually the Neville Brothers)
Not technically meeting the requirements, but inextricably linked with NOLA are "Frankie and Johnny" and "Stagger Lee," both of which are available in many versions.
"Oh Streetcar!" -- Simpsons
Whoo-hoo! Will look forward to our forthcoming thread, "The Undiscovered Funky."
In honor of CBGB's:
Buffista Music IV: The Undiscovered Country, Bluegrass and Blues.
Buffista Music IV: The Undiscovered Country, Bluegrass and Blues.
Yes, but that would be V. IV needs to riff on "The Voyage Home" which I'm drawing a blank on, music ref wise. I guess I should be gratetful it wasn't "The Journey Home" because there'd be no good way to avoid the obvious "musical" reference there.
I'm also a little sad that I know this much about the Trek movies.
