Many times in this thread I have mentioned my favorite band from Lawrence: Drakkar Sauna. They finally have a 3 song EP available at Emusic. Hopefully, their two full length albums - which are both excellent - will be added soon.
I've been seeing fliers up for a show they're doing soon. Will have to look into this.
I put two songs up at buffistarawk by Drakkar Sauna. Both are from their second album and are not available on Emusic as of now.
Emusic categorizes them as "Contemporary Folk" but I am not sure that is quite right. But neither is bluegrass or anything else I can think of really.

I've seen them about a dozen times and each time was good for different reasons. Even when they were making the transition from a three-piece to a two-piece and were just terrible. They remind me of the Mountain Goats in this way actually - what they are doing is just very smart and interesting.
How sad is it that I have to discover our Angus has returned to blogging from Alex Ross?

What's funny to me about Alex Ross' post is that I read Angus' thing to a friend of mine who's mom is an opera singer (and knows far more about opera than me), and he made some kind of LePage joke too.
