Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Mancini's Greatest Hits was my first LP purchase when I was 10 (using my lawn mowing money). I could not believe one man could be so genius as to have produced "Peter Gunn," "Pink Panther Theme" and "Baby Elephant Walk."

"Something For Cat" might be my favorite nowadays though. Perfect drive-your-convertible-to-Palm-Beach music.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

"Mr. Yunioshi" is one of my favorites (luckily I heard the tune before I ever saw the movie so the whole Mickey Rooney-in-yellowface thing hasn't poisoned it). "Four Girls in Town" is so great. It's like having your own personal badass theme music. And I really enjoyed busting out "The Great Race" last night. I'm going to have to rent that movie again.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I've finished my Power Pop Christmas mix. Are y'all tired of xmas tunes, or should I bother to post it at Buffistarawk?

Come On Christmas Cheap Trick I Want An Alien For Christmas Fountains Of Wayne Runaway Christmas Pencil Test Super Sunny Christmas Redd Kross 3 Wise Men And A Baby (Xmas Song) The Cavedogs Thanks for Christmas XTC Christmasland The Spongetones Merry Christmas Will Do Material Issue Father Christmas The Kinks This Christmas Shoes Christmas Time Chris Stamey and Friends Santa's Beard They Might Be Giants Home for the Holidays The dB's Piece For Christmas Big People Christmastime Aimee Mann with Michael Penn It's Not Christmas Kelley Ryan God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen Jigsaw Seen Little Drummer Boy The Miracle Legion She Feels Like Christmas Day The Critics O Little Town Of Bethlehem Young Fresh Fellows Underneath The Christmas Tree Bill Lloyd Jesus Christ Big Star Baby Jesus Matthew Sweet Deck The Halls R.E.M.

Some of the lesser known names on here did the prettiest songs, and bumped some worthy tunes by much bigger power pop names like The Posies, Smithereens and Hoodoo Gurus.

Hec, I want it, please. Because I have a power pop Xmas tape you made, and though I don't know if all the tracks on the tape are the same as on this listing, I would still love them in digital format, so I can put them on my iPod.

Yeah, about 80% overlap with the Fizzy Lifting Drink tape. Okay, I'll post it.

And don't you have a great version of Merry Christmas Baby, by -- I think -- Southern Culture on the Skids? I would *really* love that as an mp3.

It's good to be the king.

I'll put it up with my personal favorite Christmas original of the last 15 years, "And To All A Good Night" by 5 Chinese Brothers.
