Mancini's Greatest Hits was my first LP purchase when I was 10 (using my lawn mowing money). I could not believe one man could be so genius as to have produced "Peter Gunn," "Pink Panther Theme"
and
"Baby Elephant Walk."
"Something For Cat" might be my favorite nowadays though. Perfect drive-your-convertible-to-Palm-Beach music.
"Mr. Yunioshi" is one of my favorites (luckily I heard the tune before I ever saw the movie so the whole Mickey Rooney-in-yellowface thing hasn't poisoned it). "Four Girls in Town" is so great. It's like having your own personal badass theme music. And I really enjoyed busting out "The Great Race" last night. I'm going to have to rent that movie again.
I've finished my Power Pop Christmas mix. Are y'all tired of xmas tunes, or should I bother to post it at Buffistarawk?

Some of the lesser known names on here did the prettiest songs, and bumped some worthy tunes by much bigger power pop names like The Posies, Smithereens and Hoodoo Gurus.
Hec, I want it, please. Because I have a power pop Xmas tape you made, and though I don't know if all the tracks on the tape are the same as on this listing, I would still love them in digital format, so I can put them on my iPod.

Yeah, about 80% overlap with the Fizzy Lifting Drink tape. Okay, I'll post it.
And don't you have a great version of Merry Christmas Baby, by -- I think -- Southern Culture on the Skids? I would *really* love that as an mp3.

Oh yeah, that version fucking rocks. Sooooo sexy. Okay, I'll post that too.
You rule. You're my favorite Hec EVER.

It's good to be the king.
I'll put it up with my personal favorite Christmas original of the last 15 years, "And To All A Good Night" by 5 Chinese Brothers.
Hec, I've been meaning to say - I love the Wintergrace mix - thanks so much for putting it up at buffistarawk. I am getting together with some southern KS/Winfield friends over my Christmas vacation and it will be perr-fect. I especially love the David Grissman.
I will post my Best o' 05 mix after the holidays (and once I am posting from my brand new ubercool powerbook - happy christmas to me!!). I am am already responsible for two people buying Devin Davis and everyone I've sent it to loving M. Ward. Go me.
