Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
I don't think Joe Strummer was all that fucked up.
Everybody cross your fingers. I just sent off my book pitch to the 33 1/3 series editor to do Tom Waits' Swordfishtrombones.
How'd you do with your pitch, Corwood? You feeling sassy about it?
Anybody else submit one?

I'm hoping that's why I came up as him!

Good point. Hey! You're coming to San Francisco soon. Maybe we should firm up that oyster encounter.

That would be RAD! I'll be in SF Monday the 5th sometime in the morning and staying through the 11th. I should be able to access my profile email but I'll send you my cell number just in case.

Excellent plan. I can be flexible except when I have to get Emmett. Oysters would be ideal if you have a mid-day, weekday slot available.
I was Cave, as well. The description does sound like me...that thing about being drawn to the degradation and the best, both, at least.
I'm still trying to finish my pitch, David. Hopefully I'll send it in the next hour.

Dude, we are so down to the last wire. I think I even tossed my word counts to within six words of the maximum. Pushing pushing pushing - that's what writers do.
I did get acknowledgement from the publisher that he'd received mine so I don't have to worry about it vanishing into the interpipe. Kim said they're considering around 70 pitches. I'd surprised if more than 7 books come out of this. Eeep. They said we'd hear from them around the end of January.

From the 33 1/3 blog, posted yesterday:
With about 36 hours to go, we currently have 72 proposals for new books in the series, and they're arriving in my inbox roughly every ten minutes now. It's very very hard not to read them as they come in. But I have work to do, and it's best to save these for the weekend.
