Oh, I totally think that this week's mystery was totally to point out to Veronica how easily she was slipping into the same mode.
Veronica Mars: Annoy, Tiny Blonde One. Annoy Like the Wind.

I guess Mr. Casablancas is the only Bad Adult Male we've seen, yet, who hasn't been given at least a throwaway backstory to help explain his badness
How about the guy who strangled people with guitar strings. Or the Russian mafia guys, or the Sheriff? Or the teacher that diddled his pupils? Just off the top of my head.
I just saw this week's episode and in general I agree with overall meh-ness of it. I am enjoying the Duncan and Veronica interaction. Both the couple-y sleeping over though not necessarily having the great sex and the pulling back on full out spying on Duncan in spite of his Meg hospital stalking. I also just liked the overall teenage truthfullness of having everybody sneaking out (aside from Duncan) to do things behind nosy parents' backs at 3am. Then again I grew up on Army bases so perhaps I am over relating. It was pretty silly that Mac had make-up on though.
I'm so glad that the co-ed scene pinged other people, too. I'm watching it right now and cringing and being all "Where's that Veronica Mars show that I like?".
Back to the episode.
Lilty! I got your postcard! Thank you!
Also, I don't know why the coed scene is so ping-y for people. Veronica's pulled that act numerous times in the past to get information from guys.
I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's that it didn't feel like she was doing it to get information, she was doing it to trap him. It didn't feel (to me) like something she would do and it irritated me.
And, you're very welcome! Last week I was cleaning and finally got around to emptying my knapsack from the trip, and lo and behold! Everyone's postcards!
Also, I don't know why the coed scene is so ping-y for people.
I agree, P-C. She's a detective, and she's using a tried and true ruse to get something she needs.
It might also be telling, in terms of how she perceives seduction, and girls who aren't her.
the worst sort of JAP stereotype
Weird that it didn't ping me at all. Maybe because you so rarely see the JAP stereotype on television that playing it was almost fresh. Also, they only played the Jewish aspect to use the rabbi reveal. Otherwise the girlfriend!fiancee could have been any Caucasian ethnicity.
One of my problems with VM so far -- and I've only watched the first four episodes, so maybe it gets better -- is that it's pretty much stereotypes are us: the wacky black sidekick, the vato with a heart, the one rich kid who's not so bad. Was really grating on me.
Gonna give the second disc a try, soon. Please assure me it gets better.
I assure you, it gets better.
