Welcome back, VM thread! I'm looking forward to the new season. And watching the older seasons seems like a good way to celebrate July 4th.
Veronica Mars: Annoy, Tiny Blonde One. Annoy Like the Wind.
[NAFDA] Spoiler Policy: Seasons 1-3 and the movie are fair game. Spoiler font two weeks for new content presented all at once (e.g. Season 4 on Hulu is fair game as of Aug. 9, 2019). New content presented as weekly episodes may be discussed with no restrictions as it is released.
I, for one, would appreciate spoiler font for a little while.
I made the suggestion in Bureaucracy.
So the streaming version of the pilot starts a little differently; it's missing the teaser and opening credits. I had to pull out my DVD to make sure I wasn't losing it. Was the opening reworked for DVD, and we're back to as-aired, or...?
If I recall correctly, the version on your DVD (which opens with Veronica outside the Camelot Motel at night) is the version Rob Thomas first made.
Les Moonves, who then ran CBS (and so UPN) said it is a high school show, so it should open at the high school.
Rob didn't want to do it, but he did, and wrote what he thought of as a bad voiceover, hoping it would get the thumbs down, hoping that the network would reject it and instead would air his original version. They stayed with the opening at Neptune, however.
I do not understand why Hulu has the as-aired version. It must have to do with however they bought the rights.
A nice review via NYT, very light spoilage. [link]

Yeah, that opening is BAD. thanks for the info!
Hulu just dropped Season 4, a week early.
Awwwwwww YISS!!!!
It's going to be stupid hot and stupider humid all weekend, so I'm parking my butt in front of the teevee.
Oh sod it all, I am working this weekend. Better get the hell off all social media!
So Patton Oswalt's character tries to solve cold cases. That's super-specific casting.
I'm thinking created the role for the actor?
3 episodes in. Pleased so far. Showing some amazing self-restraint by going to bed rather than continuing to watch if I do say so myself.
I'm not surprised, exactly, but having some kind of reaction to noticing that I am not finding myself expecting VM to be Eleanor. Acting.
Digging the title sequence. Chrissie Cussing Hynde

Vonnie's got the right idea. If you don't want to be spoiled, stay off of social media until you've watched all eight episodes.
