It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I think he'll run and win. Then he and Veronica will be at odds because he not only has to solve a case, but also follow the law, whereas she can use whatever sneaky tricks she wants to pull. I think as a private citizen, doing certain things during the course of an investigation may be ethically sticky, it's not the same as having the power of the state behind you and doing them.

Anyway, I think Keith will come to the conclusion that maybe it is better to work a little outside the law.

I think I came to all this because of Landry's dig at V "slumming it" as a PI.

What is even happening?

That line did seem to have some intentionality to it, above and beyond baiting Keith and making his (Landry's) point about V.

As much as I love Veronica's relationship with her father, I do think it needs some shaking up. There'll be a certain (non-cloying) coming-of-age quality to them having to deal with their issues. Veronica's recklessness has often endangered her and angered Keith. Now, to have her working outside the law - when He is The Law, will be pretty yummy.

I hope we get Sheriff Mars.

I agree, and I also wonder if the constraints of being a civil employee will frustrate him.

I can't make up my mind on that. I mean, I hope they do, but it's not like he's not used to the job. And his most involved PI cases - he always tried to involve the law.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I hope they don't mess with Keith and Veronica's relationship too much, because it is pretty much why I still watch the show. I love Keith.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I hope that the Keith-Veronica relationship develops some more cracks due to V having stuff she can't tell K about, not because he's her father but because he's the sheriff, and alos juts daughter growing up stuff. Like, maybe that FBI thing will move ahead even with Landry out of the picture. That seems like something Keith might want for her, or feel like he ought to want for her, and that she might want but also be tempted to pass up on so she doesn't have to leave daddy alone in Neptune. Ooh, and Lucy Lawless could make another appearance.

It would take a surprising development for Keith to lose the special election. Who would even run against him at this point? Vinnie? One of the deputies?

Well, whoever runs against him, Vinnie has some incriminating photos of Keith and Harmony. If the writers want Keith back out of uniform, it shouldn't be too hard to screw up his campaign.

He does? I'd forgotten that. Still, I would have high expectations of entertainment value from any sheriff brought in if they oust Keith after killing off Lamb. If, I don't know, Logan's mom returned to life and ran for sheriff for some reason, that might do it. A new character would require some serious selling.

Who is even on the city council anymore, do we know anyone?

I hope they actually keep him in uniform. We already watched the "Keith being a better sheriff but losing the election anyway" show last season.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Y'know, I was thinking it was going to be Landry & Mindy together because of the throwaway line about a double indemnity clause in O'Dell's insurance policy a few episodes back. When they became too obvious as the perps, I knew it was Lucky Tim, but still, I had high hopes.
