And wow. Lamb dead. Keith sheriff again. Mac getting some. Wallace getting to talk some smack. Logan actually enjoying himself. (Although Logan/Parker is a trainwreck waiting to happen. Although they both have a sort of BBoC factor going on.)

So I have to wonder, with the 3 writers for the episode, and then MM himself, whose idea it was to have Lamb's last words to be "I smell bread."
I mean, WTF? I couldn't help laughing despite the man bleeding out on the floor.

I think it's a "M*A*S*H" reference -- there's a famous scene where a patient says "I smell bread. Fresh baked bread. Oh my God, I'm home." before dying. (Yes, I had to look the correct quote up.)

Ah. I figured there was probably an explanation, but it seemed so wierd and random it sort of took me out of the moment.
I thought that was the best episode of the season, hands down. And Lamb's ignominious death -- stupidly shotting at his own freakin' reflection on the mirror after bumbling into the building unprepared, then having his head bashed in by a baseball bat of all things -- was just so fitting for his life in a weirdly poetic way, even though I harbored some reluctant affection for the character once in a while. And the rest of the episode was tightly plotted and the dialog was shiny and oooh, look at all the recurring characters we love! Wallace got to snark at Lamb! Mac got the kind of sweet first time she deserved but didn't get with Cassidy! Cliff was awesome! Logan smiling and being snarky and not mopey! Veronica letting her marshmallow side coming out! Keith being ultra-competent!
I'm just pleased as a punch. I think this was the first time in the entire season when I felt like I wanted to see where they might go with all this in the fourth season.
I always think, any episode with Cliff, Vinny, and Lamb is automatically tops. But this will be the last! Sniff. Great episode, although emotionally flat.
Poor Lamb. I'll miss the jerk.
WOW. When Wallace and Lamb had their scene, I thought it felt like a bookend, but I got stuck on wondering why there'd be a bookend in the middle of a season or a middle of a mystery. I didn't see it coming until Lamb entered the O'Dell house.
I can't really believe it. I wish they'd made more use of him this season. I so loved to hate him.
The Parker/Logan sparks are exciting, because of both factors victor mentioned: BBoC and TRAIN WRECK!
I wonder what the implications of Veronica letting Josh escape are, now that Keith both knows and is Sheriff, again.
Mac and Bronson had me grinning from ear to ear (although it also had me wondering for a nano-second if there was any way Bronson could be the killer).
