Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Ok-- I only RECOGNIZED 15 songs out of the top 100 for my year here:

[link]

And I think I only liked 2.

I was really out of it.

Now, I know and have nostalgia for ALL of the songs on Cindy's List, from my fifth grade year.

I believe that in 1989-90, I got fed up with all music because of MC Hammer and other annoying songsand started only listening to musicals. Which I did for several years until I discovered Joni Mitchell.

edit for odd typo in Cindy's name

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't know what it says about my graduating high school class that the Macarena made it into the top 100 list twice.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

How do you talk
To an angel?
How do you hold her close
To where you are?
How do you talk
To an angel?
It's like tryin' to catch a fallin' star....

There's some impressive crap in my year. That was also the year of The Bodyguard.

OTOH, Digable Planets is also on that list, so it's not all bad.

(BTW - the above lyrics? From memory. I can't remember the name of the thing you sit on, but I can remember those lyrics. kicks brain)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I skimmed my list and ... there are about 10 I don't recognise. There are 3 I own now (U Got The Look, Luka and Touch Me (I Want Your Body). And there are some I need to go buy (C'est La Vie, Shakedown, La Bamba, Living On A Prayer, Lean On Me, Lost In Emotion, and the Control Album).

Yet, my sister's trying to talk to me of Ashanti and Ciara, and I know nothing (OTOH, I really need Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls).

I can't even.

I was working as a dj in my graduating year, so I recognized all the songs, but I got down to about #37 before I found one I would want to listen to. The bottom half of the top 100 does much better than the top half.

Actually this

My Prerogative, Bobby Brown

song in 1989 [link] was the song I hated so much I stopped listening to pop music.

Yes, I was weird.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Did you know Hugh Laurie plays her dorky husband in the Walking on Broken Glass video?

Seriously? I thought that it was John Malkovich.

I'm looking at my list, which is the same as ita's list. Mostly I'm just arguing with where songs appear on the list. There are certainly some insta-channel changers (Kenny G, Chris de Burgh), and not a few that I own. I don't think I've ever heard of Expose or Jets before now, though, and they have multiple entries.
