I can't even.

Catchers don't often get rung in the cup (they get it on the knuckles a lot more often, or so it seems to me), but they still wear cups anyway.

There's a 90-mph bullet aimed at their groins on every single play. That's a completely different scenario.

The hockey players who routinely were missing front teeth and had facial scars and broken noses.

Helmets did nothing to prevent missing teeth, facial scarring or broken noses and still don't to this day. Players wearing screens or shields are still a minority in the NHL and are usually recovering from injury. Also, fewer professional hockey games are played compared to professional soccer where there are multiple leagues in most countries of the world.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I hope you feel better, soon.

Thank you! I'm sure I will. I've been going to this masseuse whenever need presents/funds permit, and she has genius hands. Sooooo good!

There's a 90-mph bullet aimed at their groins on every single play.

That's . . . quite an image there.

Baseball suddenly seems much more gripping.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A todger made out of clay?

I believe vampires are the world's greatest golfers

Um, hi everyone. Remember me? I've been dark (as in black-out) for oh, about the last nine months.

This is what the hockey players said about helmets

The soccer thing reminds me of the arguments for neck-guards in hockey. They're now regulation in a lot of leagues, because of incidents like this one [warning: very gory picture behind that link]. And helmet visors, and all the rest... By the time Dan finishes suiting up he looks like a gladiator rather than a guy just going out on the ice to play a game of shinny.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Also, people, for crying out loud, if you're falling apart for whatever reason at work on a Friday afternoon, TAKE A HALF SICK DAY!!

I would! Except I have a dinner date after work with a friend who is all about the drama all week long and I can't blow her off.

And now I live too far away to pop in and out of the city.

I totally would though. When she was making noise that she wasn't up to it, I was online immediately checking when the next rain home was. But then she changed her mind.

Always Anti-fascist!

I kind of admire that guy. That is one dedicated SOB. My mom, who has the Joyce Summers sympathize with everybody thing heard about Rove's kidney stones and said "Wow, those hurt a lot.(pause) Cool."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Take half a sick day and go nap in a lounge somewhere?

sarameg - Sep 16, 2005 9:28:23 am PDT #8190 of 10002

I can't take half days.

My employer is stupid that way.

And WHY DID I CLICK ON DANI'S LINK. I knew what it was going to be , and yet still...
