Don't youmean snorkling?
Ack, Dana.
So my two car accidents last year continue to bite me in the ass. My old insurance company sent me notice that they would not renew my policy when it expired. Which is fine, after the hassle I went through to get them to fix my damn car, I didn't want to do business with them anymore anyway. I tried getting insurance through State Farm (whiuch was recommended by several friends and my parents) and they declined me, directing me to some consumer reporting site for the reason. I get to wait 10 business days to find out whatever their reasoning was.
So, out of desperation, I contacted Geico. They're willing to take me on, but for almost $200 more than what my old company was charging. (This is over the doubled-rate they charged me after said accidents.) This just sucks. In the space of a year I went from spending less than $300 every 6 months on insurance to almost $800. Argh.
I heard that joke a couple of days ago, and it took me literally a whole day to get it.
Me too. I kept trying to figure out what "get out of New Orleans" was a euphemism for.
Kalshane, try Progessive. Joe has a couple tickets and they are awesome.

I just assumed the joke was meant to poke fun at how Bush just doesn't pay attention to anything, and so when he was asked about Roe v. Wade, he blathered on about a totally different topic.
Duhhhh. Some days I wonder how I've managed to not chop my own head off.
Ditto about Progressive--I'd been driving around with no insurance for a time, so State Farm wouldn't renew my policy. Progressive not only signed me up with no questions asked, they were cheaper than SF, too!
Feels good it only took the last few posts for him to get the joke
Thanks, Aimee. I tried them before Geico and they quoted me $100 more, unfortunately.
I want to know what the hell is on this mysterious report that makes insurance companies think I'm poison, because I did the free annual credit report thing and I'm good there.
It's incredibly frustrating. I have no tickets on record (took the Defensive Driving course for both my lone speeding ticket a couple years back and for the ticket from my accident to have them not applied to my record.) I've only had one accident where I was at fault in my entire driving history, and there were no injuries. I have to wonder if my old insurance co. bad-mouthed me to this reporting agency for riding their asses about getting my car fixed after the accident.
Progressive is a great co. They do cost more, but they are easy easy to deal with. and they don't drop people. ( we had we had 3 or 4 car accident in as many years- 1 no blame ( I think), 1 part DH's and 2 clearly other people's faults. 3 totaled cars - 1 where the insurance co paid nothing because the car had no collision ( yup , it really was that old). So we pay a lot. but their service is outstanding.
