I heard that joke a couple of days ago, and it took me literally a whole day to get it.
Me too. I kept trying to figure out what "get out of New Orleans" was a euphemism for.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Kalshane, try Progessive. Joe has a couple tickets and they are awesome.

I just assumed the joke was meant to poke fun at how Bush just doesn't pay attention to anything, and so when he was asked about Roe v. Wade, he blathered on about a totally different topic.
Duhhhh. Some days I wonder how I've managed to not chop my own head off.
Ditto about Progressive--I'd been driving around with no insurance for a time, so State Farm wouldn't renew my policy. Progressive not only signed me up with no questions asked, they were cheaper than SF, too!
Feels good it only took the last few posts for him to get the joke
Thanks, Aimee. I tried them before Geico and they quoted me $100 more, unfortunately.
I want to know what the hell is on this mysterious report that makes insurance companies think I'm poison, because I did the free annual credit report thing and I'm good there.
It's incredibly frustrating. I have no tickets on record (took the Defensive Driving course for both my lone speeding ticket a couple years back and for the ticket from my accident to have them not applied to my record.) I've only had one accident where I was at fault in my entire driving history, and there were no injuries. I have to wonder if my old insurance co. bad-mouthed me to this reporting agency for riding their asses about getting my car fixed after the accident.
Progressive is a great co. They do cost more, but they are easy easy to deal with. and they don't drop people. ( we had we had 3 or 4 car accident in as many years- 1 no blame ( I think), 1 part DH's and 2 clearly other people's faults. 3 totaled cars - 1 where the insurance co paid nothing because the car had no collision ( yup , it really was that old). So we pay a lot. but their service is outstanding.
Lynn Swann is on the ancient episode of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood currently airing on PBS. It made me curious enough to google him and see what he's up to now, since he seems like a thoroughly nice guy. Turns out he's thinking of running for governor of Pennsylvania as a Republican in 2006 in hopes of unseating my man Ed Rendell. Grr. Wish I hadn't bothered to look him up, because now he's in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe and I'm snarling at his bad political taste.
Google is a double edged sword.

On Tuesday, Doug Clark was teaching a history class at Central High School in Springfield, Mass.
On Wednesday, Clark was pinch-hitting for the Giants in the ninth inning of his first big-league game.
"I don't think it's hit me yet," Clark said after he drew a walk and was erased on a double play.
When Triple-A Fresno's season ended, Clark, 29, flew home to begin his side job as a substitute teacher. He was in the middle of class, in his second day on the job, when he got a message that Fresno manager Shane Turner called.
