The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Will someone tell me to stop compusively checking ebay to see if more people have bid on my tickets?

OK, traffic will be a bitch and I'm sure it freaked a lot of people out (and probably caused some injuries) but

Lee Sapaden, a spokesman for the county Office of Emergency Management, said the massive power failure was caused after an employee "inadvertenly cut a power cable" at a DWP substation in West Los Angeles.

excuse me while I go wipe the tears from my eyes.

So ....classic.

Some days I'm surprised we as a species make it out of bed without maiming ourselves.

Yeah, I heard that on the radio.

So, just so everyobdy knows, especially any terrorists -- cutting one wire brings it all down! And that wire is in the West LA substation.

Well, we already knew that a dude with a backhoe on the Eastern seaboard can take out half the Internet...

The evil is this way?

See, this is why backhoes should be banned. And don't give me any of that "if backhoes are banned, only construction workers will have backhoes." I don't care. Darn things are a menace.

Silence means security silence means approval

That's the problem with our current airport security array. You can't get a simple, harmless switchblade through security without a body cavity search, but put a backhoe through the X-ray machine and no one bats an eye.

The president stopped to talk to the pool outside a one story school being repaired, just after 2 pm CDT. He made no news at the 28th Street Elementary School. Asked about Mike Brown resigning, he said he hadn't spoken to Chertoff or Brown, but will be on AF One.
"Maybe you know something I don't know," he said of Brown.

I don't know who is running the country, but I can safely say who isn't.
