Hell, why didn't they just name it Lucia and be done with it?
Except Lucia would take some newlywed with her. Hurricane Tosca at least would only kiss the corrupt politicians. Hmmm . . .
Oddest part time job--auctioneer's assistant when in my early teens.
Coolest job moment--calling Industrial Light and Magic's actual phone to see if they wanted to upgrade their networking software. Unfortunately, the people who decided that were on vacation, so someone else got to call later.
2nd coolest moment--calling a bookstore at, I swear, 666 Dead Cat Alley, also about their networking software. I told the owner I thought his address was way cool, and he snapped, "Then you can buy the store, I'm sick of it." I had to wonder just what he thought he was getting into, with an address like that.
Sirens all over LA. There's big blackouts hitting large parts of town, for no discernable reason. They're not rolling blackouts -- it's pretty cool today, and the energy consumption levels aren't out of the ordinary.
Well that's freaky and kind of scary.
Just saw a post on LJ saying So, mmm, according to ...gossip, two substations are out, pretty much all of Los Angeles is out--without power, including San Fernando valley. I guess San Gabriel valley still has some power. FWIW.
Well that's freaky and kind of scary.
Yep. Power's back on now.
I'm in Downtown LA and we were just without power for about 45 minutes. Em's school was out and they're in Burbank and not part of the LA DWP power grid. The house in the Valley is out.
I've been a little freaked out.
There was a sense of relaxation at a critical moment."
Maybe that's because you were still on vacation and far from New Orleans.
Aims, I've been thinking of you the whole time. I take it you've checked in with Em's school?
There's big blackouts hitting large parts of town, for no discernable reason.
It's to distract from the bullshit happening in Washington. I'd look for Karl Rove's hand on the big power switch.
The National Weather Service should know better than to name a hurricane Ophelia.
So I'm assuming hurricane Medea is a really, really bad idea.
Or Livia.
There was a sense of relaxation at a critical moment.
And now Laura's leaving Cialis brochures all over the West Wing.
