Poking head to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Lyra Jane's birthday. Happy birthday, Lyra Jane! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!

Happy birthday, LJ!
From Reuters:
A magnitude 7.5 quake under Los Angeles could kill as many as 18,000 and cost $250 billion, according to computer models.
Meanwhile, the state's San Andreas fault is seen certain to at some point set off a magnitude 8 quake, possibly more powerful than the quake that destroyed San Francisco in 1906.
That would cut off the water and natural gas flows into Los Angeles, sever road and rail ties and effectively strand a region with 10 times the population of New Orleans, said Lucy Jones, a scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey.
"It is absolutely when and not if," she said, urging residents to take steps now to recognize the risk and prepare. "I'll bet most people in L.A. don't have a store of water."
Am I pessimistic in thinking most people in LA don't live anywhere with storage room for a significant amount of water in that scenario?
Jessica, ITA with your assessment. I'm also irked at the lack of subtlety. Everyone is drawn with the broadest strokes imagineale as Good Guy or Bad Guy.
In that scene where the evil Secret Service agent shoots the witness, I almost threw something at the tv. As soon as remorse!agent hesitated on the trigger I knew smiley!agent was going to shoot her and make some comment that is supposed to make him sound like a bad ass but just come out sad. "Pick up the shell casings" or something like that. And last week not!Connor was all "You're dead to me, Dad" and now in one visit he's all tearing up and emotional? Way to play the arc, writers.
Happy birthday, LJ!
What a crappy way to start the day, Theo.
After six days off, I seem to have mastered sleeping past 8 am. Too bad I have to finally go back to work tomorrow.
Happy Birthday LJ!
Have come down with the con plague. In spite of that, going to work. Except not, because am currently waiting for a plumber.
God, I'm bored and slightly stoned on cold medication.
It feels like it should be thursday. This is bad when the work week started on tuesday, isn't it?
I talked to the tow guy and evidently the car looks to be in decent condition, except for the steering column which is, in his words, Fubar'd. As in, it won't be startable without a screwdriver. Then I talked to my insurance company, and started the claims process, though that won't start in earnest until the claims adjuster contacts me and sees the car for herself, et cetera.
I wonder how much replacing a steering column comes to, and if it's going to be more than the total worth of the 11yo car. SIGH.
Happy Birthday, Lyra Jane!
Ack, Theo and Dana. That sucks.
That truely sucks, Theo, and not just because I worry about that happening myself (also an 11-yr old Civic owner - the problem is that the Civic, whatever the age of the car, is one of the most strippable cars for parts, which is why it's one of the most commonly stolen models (makes?); I hope you just got hit by joy-riders).
eta Glad there was only one real point of damage.
Hippo birdies to LJ!
Thank god the Daily Show was back.
Per RESCUE ME, I knew they were going to bring the pain, but yeesh. Also, I was disappointed that the lesbian girlfriend turned out to be abusive. I didn't really like the idea that Shelia (?) was that craxy, but it was the better of the two scenarios. And, I totally called that the inheritance would go to the cats. Now I just hope I'm wrong that hooker-girlfriend is pulling a massive scam.
