Have come down with the con plague. In spite of that, going to work. Except not, because am currently waiting for a plumber.
God, I'm bored and slightly stoned on cold medication.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

It feels like it should be thursday. This is bad when the work week started on tuesday, isn't it?
I talked to the tow guy and evidently the car looks to be in decent condition, except for the steering column which is, in his words, Fubar'd. As in, it won't be startable without a screwdriver. Then I talked to my insurance company, and started the claims process, though that won't start in earnest until the claims adjuster contacts me and sees the car for herself, et cetera.
I wonder how much replacing a steering column comes to, and if it's going to be more than the total worth of the 11yo car. SIGH.
Happy Birthday, Lyra Jane!
Ack, Theo and Dana. That sucks.
That truely sucks, Theo, and not just because I worry about that happening myself (also an 11-yr old Civic owner - the problem is that the Civic, whatever the age of the car, is one of the most strippable cars for parts, which is why it's one of the most commonly stolen models (makes?); I hope you just got hit by joy-riders).
eta Glad there was only one real point of damage.
Hippo birdies to LJ!
Thank god the Daily Show was back.
Per RESCUE ME, I knew they were going to bring the pain, but yeesh. Also, I was disappointed that the lesbian girlfriend turned out to be abusive. I didn't really like the idea that Shelia (?) was that craxy, but it was the better of the two scenarios. And, I totally called that the inheritance would go to the cats. Now I just hope I'm wrong that hooker-girlfriend is pulling a massive scam.
Dana, I hope you feel better soon.
I watched half of Prison Break with the sound on, and half with it off (I'd muted it for some reason and then just...I don't know. I watch tv strangely.)
It made more sense with the sound off.
Blah blah outrage-fatigue-cakes....
The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights (FTCR) today exposed internal oil company memos that show how the industry intentionally reduced domestic refining capacity to drive up profits. The exposure comes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina as the oil industry blames environmental regulation for limiting number of U.S. refineries.
The three internal memos from Mobil, Chevron, and Texaco (available at [link] show different ways the oil giants closed down refining capacity and drove independent refiners out of business. The confidential memos demonstrate a nationwide effort by American Petroleum Institute, the lobbying and research arm of the oil industry, to encourage the major refiners to close their refineries in the mid-1990s in order to raise the price at the pump.
But you know, now is not the time for the blame game.
Ugh Theo, sucktastic.
Happy Birthday, Lyra Jane!
Theo, that sucks. Car thieves are scum. I hope your get it back in decent shape and that the person that took it suffers blistering boils or some such cosmic retribution.
Man, people are all pissy and snippy here today. (edit: AT WORK)
I think everyone needs a nap.
