Are you parents heading to your place to stay for a while, now?
Hard to say. My dad will probably stay in Baton Rouge, because UNO has an operation up and running there. Whether my mother comes to stay here for a while will probably depend on what the housing situation is there. Right now, they're still in a hotel.
Then there was the story of FEMA disconnecting communications cables....
Jefferson Parish, I think? The Sheriff went and reconnected them and then stationed armed guards. They were talking about it on Meet the Press on Sunday.
5:18 P.M. - NEW YORK (AP): Michael Jackson has written a song to help raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and will soon record it.
Tentatively titled, "From the Bottom of My Heart," the singer plans to ask other musicians to join him in recording it.
Spokeswoman, Raymone K. Bain says Jackson hopes to record the song within two weeks in the style of "We Are the World," which he co-wrote and produced in 1985 to raise money for famine relief efforts in Africa.
Jackson has been mostly reclusive since he was acquitted of child molestation charges in California on June 13.
Oh dear, shirtless Harry Connick Jr. evacuating an elderly neighbor should NOT be making me tingly. I'm evil. Evil. But Godalmignty is he pumped.

FEMA. I understand (but don't excuse) how the top management can be so screwed up by political appointees, but I don't understand all the stories about FEMA officials who were in the city turning away help and supplies. Is it misguided idealism to think that career emergency management people might think and act on their own based on the conditions around them?
I have wondered if the "turning away' of supplies was merely that they were redirected, and the rejection of workers or equipments was more of a "not right now, it will clog up the supply line to have to handle everything" but when FEMA cuts phone lines, then there's no benefit of the doubt to be given.

Harry Connick Jr. will never, ever have to worry about food, drink, or not gettin' any for the rest of his life, at least not in New Orleans Mark II.
Kinda how the 2004 Red Sox will never have to worry about those three things when they're in Boston.
Somehow, I think Harry Connick Jr was doing OK already.
ya think. what with the being hot and nice and married to a VS model. hunh.

I don't know - if it was an isolated incident, sure, but I've heard too many similar reports. They can't all have misunderstood.
