Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

Silence means security silence means approval

If you say so. Everytime I see him, he seems really surly and a Bush administration apologist. But at least he's keeping his cool.

Yeah, he is a shill, but unlike his "boss" he's been out front all along.

I understand some MS residents aren't too happy for him because he didn't call for mandatory evacuations. Granted I don't know this for a fact, just something I read from a MS resident.

MS issued evacuation orders but lacked the manpower to enforce them all along the coast. And a lot of people stayed, thinking that since their house had survived Camille it would survive Katrina. Unfortunately, a lot of them were wrong.

And Washington is taking 2000 evacuees, all going to Puget Sound area counties. [link]

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I wonder how many of my old bosses will be housing refugees in their weekend/summer homes.

None I bet.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I've got to say, Dana, Houston's doing a damn good job of taking people in. San Antonio too. Go Texas.

Go Texas.

You notice how Katrina didn't mess with it...

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Apparently, the governor of TX is asking that some of the evacuees be moved out of TX to other states because TX has become over-burdened.

Okay, this is how they're going to respond. They're going to say that racism (and/or classism) is simply impossible. It's not a factor. La la la I can't hear you....:

*******

[Condi Rice's] visit came as some black leaders, including the Rev. Jesse Jackson, have complained bitterly about the slow response to the disaster, whose victims have been disproportionately black and poor. They have said racial injustice was a factor in the government's slow relief effort.

"How can that be the case? Americans don't want to see Americans suffer," Rice said. "Nobody, especially the president, would have left people unattended on the basis of race."

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

...and then she swallowed her tongue.

"Nobody, especially the president, would have left people unattended on the basis of race."

So what was the basis, Condie? Socioeconomic class? Is that really better? People were unattended. So please explain WTF the reason was.

On another board, a person watched 'Nightline' and had this comment:

Nightline is having a Sunday night edition. The mayor claims that some people tried to walk out of NO from either the Convention Center or Superdrome, but were stopped out at the county line by cops with dogs and forced to go back: the suburban police didn't want any 'looters' in their town.
