Spike: Lots of fuss over one girl. Other things to do around here--important things. Angel: You know that whoosh thing you do when you're suddenly not there anymore? I love that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Those are some fine-looking children, Gud. And Leif really seems to hide his true nature well.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

"We're not proselytizing! We're offering people the opportunity!"

More for the People Unclear On The Concept file!

Note to world: calling a drowning a "liquid breathing influx opportunity" does not unmake the drowning part of the equation. Lawyers are twisty like that, and have thought of all the newspeak already.

move out and draw fire

Are these people you're going to have to bail out of jail later?

Possibly. Well, not me or the DH, since neither of us are working in the consular section this tour. But the embassy, yeah, maybe. Depending if the Greeks decide to enforce the law. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. The Mormons hit the hospital near my house a LOT, and the Greek police will tend to arrest them there, I think mainly because the priests at the hospital call them.

(And to be really technical, the embassy can't bail out Americans. We could take them magazines and make sure they get a phone call and legal counsel. But their families/church probably would send bail.)

I neglected to identify myself as affiliated with the embassy, however.

I can't say I like being proselytized, but I'm glad I can be.

Leif really is very sweet, he just has a talent for mischief.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I wonder if that would have done any good. Probably not.

Duly noted. Um...uh...not for any reason, though.

I just meant mischievous! My father is completely unable to claim he wasn't a smart-ass as a kid, because you can see it in ever single photo of him.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

For Teppy: [link]

Heh. Didn't NPR do a piece on that this morning? I heard it when my alarm went off (some mornings I get my RDA of irony without even getting out of bed) and just giggled. Then I picked up the phone and called in to work and went back to sleep.

Now it's The Beautiful Ones by Prince, which always mellows me out.

I made a mishmash Prince mix CD for the car, and I've been listening to it nonstop for about 2 weeks.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Gud, you do have an amazing capacity for understatement.
