I guess I can't still hate her:
9:53 A.M. - LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Hilary Duff has pledged to donate $250,000 to help Hurricane Katrina victims on the Gulf Coast. The 17-year-old singer-actress will give $200,000 to the American Red Cross and $50,000 to USA Harvest, which is supplying food to shelters, according to a statement released Thursday by publicist Cece Yorke. The latter donation will amount to more than 300,000 cans of food being provided to victims.
Duff encouraged fans to bring canned food donations to her concerts and to give money to charities.
I am so heartsick right now.
Damn, Hilary Duff's parents raised her right.
Also, double damn. Diddy and Jay-Z are making a joint donation of $1M, and Nicolas Cage donated another $1M all on his own. Okay, the article also mentions another $1M from Celine Dion, but she still makes me crawly.
Some things can't be erased by any amount of charitable donation.
-t, I'm glad you're safe and with family. I'm sorry for the news about your grandmother and hope you can all be with her soon.
-t, I am so glad you and Henry and your critters are safe. And, I'm so sorry about your grandmother. Tight hugs and all kinds of ~ma to you.

In good news form this horrible storm, I heard a story on NPR this morning about the elderly residents of the flooded out Gulfport Veteran's home, who all got bussed up to the DC Veteran's home ,which has apparently got room and is a beautiful place. Residents lined the sidewalk with flags to welcome them.
You can also donate to the Red Cross through the iTunes Music Store.
