Early: So is it still her room when it's empty? Does the room, the thing, have purpose? Or do we -- what's the word? Simon: I really can't help you. Early: The plan is to take your sister. Get the reward, which is substantial. 'Imbue.' That's the word.

What about "Origin Belief" instead of "Origin Myth?"

Works for me. Now if we can just get a consensus...

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I'm contemplating pretty hair of my own. Maybe I should go red again. Like, really red. So red it doesn't even look real.

copper or ruby?

There is a derogatory sense of "myth" in American English that implies that it is an inherently false belief.

I don't agree with that. And am a native American English speaker. I'm not saying you're wrong to think it, just that not everybody does.

There is a tendency (and I'm not picking on you Jesse) to take dw's statements and add the words "Everyone agrees that..." to the beginning of them. Try adding the words "I think that..." and maybe his opinions won't seem as generalizing.

The picture I saw was ruby but I think copper might be better with my skin.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wolfram, in the sentence I quoted, he specifically says that everyone does agree. Or at least, American English speakers. I don't believe I misread his statement.

dw, I would suggest making more "I" statements, in general. It just goes over better here.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Kristen when I was thinking of going red red, not natural red. I was looking at pictures of Naomi Judd that convinced me not to. Now I can;t find any, but there was a time when her hair was tomato red.

You'd look terrific with a really intense copper.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

It sounds like the wild, despairing Gotham of No Man's Land

I've been thinking that for about 48 hours now.

So google images gives you lots of normal pictures of people with red hair, if you search for "red hair." If you search for "redhead," you get porn.

Just FYI.

there was a time when her hair was tomato red.

Yeah, see this is not the red I'm looking for.

You'd look terrific with a really intense copper.

Thanks! My beloved former hairdresser (who abandoned me to go to Utah) used to always steer me towards the coppers. They work better on me.

What is even happening?

Oh, my word.

Wolfram, I think where the conversation started going pear shaped was the comparison with the derogatory use of "boy." I don't mind "myth" myself, because I recognize that it's not automatically falsifying, but you and dw are right, that it carries that context.

Jesse, all dw said that time, was that there is a derogatory sense of the word in American English. There is. Someone upstream quoted the second def. in some dictionary. He didn't say all, most, or many American speakers do anything.

Can't we all just pick on the government, again?
