I guess I could Google, but guessing is more fun.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I thought about posting my conjecture, but then I realized that Google would ruin my fun.

I don't think y'all are appreciating the lure of anarchy in the sniper situation. From what I heard from my Dad after Hurricane Andrew and what I witnessed after the San Francisco earthquake, there are a certain percentage of folks who are very gleeful to have the complete and utter breakdown of social order. That's all there is to it. It's not that many people, but what you're not understanding is that for some people this is better.
For people who were too poor to own a car, or pay for a motel outside the city, who live in absolute poverty, it's fucking Christmas to be able to go break into all those shops along Canal and load up on electronics and guns and jewelry.
Shooting at helicopters and hospitals is just a big fat Fuck You. Nothing more or less. For maybe the first time in their lives, these people are feeling powerful, and they're abusing it. But they're exercising their power.
I don't think there are a lot of people like that. But there definitely are people like that.
It just occured to me - I don't see how GWB and other Republicans can blame this mess on Clinton.
But who knows - they might find a way.
And yet, we can't even do simple things like get relief supplies into NOLA.
Where are they going to land them? Where are they going to gas up the transpo? How are they going to distribute them? Are they actually not getting any supplies in, or is this not going fast enough for you? Do you have any true idea of whether or not this effort is going worse than the Tsunami. Are the two comparable? In the Tsunami, wasn't it a case that the people who were in the water were dead, and that the survivors were already on land, or able to reach it?
I don't know the answers to these questions, so I'm not set to slam you if you come back with facts. I just wonder if, this soon, anyone does have these kind of facts to make this kind of indictment.

Sadly, Hec is right....
Two out of three it is.
On larger, I was also going by "personally estimated dick size."

Oh, the PEDS.
Oh, the PEDS.
Yeah, I remember how bummed I was when the International Standards Institute switched the PEDS to the metric system.
Cindy, I do think those are legitimate questions. I've certainly heard of people running out of gas in the South because there's no electricity to power the pumps.
I do think, however, that the response has not been well coordinated. As noted way upthread, after 9/11 it was made very very clear that when different rescue groups have different communications systems you have breakdowns and problems. It really should have been addressed at a very high level that everybody who would be responding to a major catastrophe should be hooked into the same communication system, which should be run off something other than the local power grid.
Also, it shouldn't have taken this long to get people out of the Dome. Military convoys could've been mobilized from Houston on the first day. And they're designed to bring their own gas, and go over off-road terrain.
