Because books.

Cindy, I missed a lot of the first 45 minutes, too, due to putting the baby to bed. And while I sorta kinda enjoyed the rest, once I got up this morning I was so irritated by the inconsistencies and huge plot logic holes, that I couldn't give you a fair summary (based on asking DH questions) even if you were offering cake.

So glad everyone else agrees with me on the diabetes issue. Such a simple thing to research, their hand-waviness about the whole thing irritates me.

I don't remember what I dreamed last night. But I know I dreamed about running out of FedEx envelopes the night before. And I don't work in an office anymore.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The situation does actually continue to get worse in New Orleans. Jefferson Parish is under martial law, and the breaches in the levee keep pouring water in.

The phones seem to still be out in Jackson. I haven't been able to get in touch with my parents.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesus, Dana. I hope you get in touch with them soon.

Would rappers' mug shots be distracting or amusing for you? [link]

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

So, who has a mountain of dirt that could be donated to southern Louisiana? I think, after this, the whole city of New Orleans needs to be taller.

Basically, Dana, they can't step in and start seriously pumping out water until after they rebuild some kind of levee wall, right? Or else, dig a really big hole someplace else that all the water can drain to.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, I don't think there's anywhere for the water to go. The Army Corps of Engineer are supposed to be working on the leak problem, but what can you do? t shrug

Plaquemines Parish is also under martial law now.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Dana, I stayed up late obsessively watching the news for you. I hope you ended up getting a little bit of rest and that you can get in touch with your parents soon.
