I did, however, start watching Rome on Sunday. It's very soap-operaish. But with full frontal nudity and pornographic graffeti.

Re Prison Break...

I missed the first 45 minutes (I shouldn't even have TiVo, if I'm not going to program it), and only remembered it was on, because someone on LJ posted about it, while watching. Will these episodes be rerun? We tried to watch for a few minutes, but were too behind to get into the story.

I saw the part where he told the resident tough racist jerk (Teabag, right?) who had people holding onto his outturned pocket, that he wasn't going to be his girlfriend. And I saw him keep failing to get away with the bolt from the bleachers. I saw a guard or some prison official color on the pad of paper in what I assume is WM's character's cell, to reveal what had been written on the previous sheet. And I saw John Doe (sorry--forget the actor's name) have his little reverie about being in bed with the girl. That's about it--at least, that's it of what I can remember.

What was the first 45 minutes about?

I seem to recall Wolfram explaining that this was not beyond the bounds of reason, but I could be wrong.

I had a dream that there was a Buffista F2F, but we couldn't use the hospitality suite because another group was using it to display food sculpted out of avacados.

(Also, that reminds me that I meant to bring an avocado to work to go on my lunch sandwich, but I forgot. Is there no justice???)

I have a petty issue with Prison Break -- I like feeling, when I watch a TV show, as though a lot of different things can happen. From the previews, I think I can guess how Prison Break will end without seeing minute one. (A conspiracy is detected, and then seems to be un-detected, and is ultimately proven correct with a Surprising New Twist. Meanwhile, there are various tribulations in the jail, some of which are scary and others humorous. The brothers get out of prison in the end, with a lot of help from their friends.)

I may have seen too much TV.

I watched a documentary about a little girl born with Treacher Collins syndrome, which produces severe abnormalities of the facial bones. Suffice it to say that the delivery room nurse who took the newborn to the MRI machine was astounded to find out that she had a normal brain because of the degree of deformity. She's two years old now, using sign language because she can't physically talk (or eat) because of her tracheotomy and swallowing difficulties, but because of repeated surgeries has something approaching a face and the definite possibility of gaining something like a normal appearance.

It reminds me that a) I think I have troubles and b) surgeons really do some brave, heroic, complicated stuff and c) there are a lot of heroes out there....

I could have watched Prison Break but I just wasn't in the mood....

I think we were talking about whether it's possible that he would be sent to the same facility as his brother and one he himself designed, and the answer is, they have no real systems to cross-reference that kind of thing. From the show we learn that he and his brother have different last names, and that he "ghostwrote" the blueprints so there's no record of him or his company being involved. Also, he specifically requested a facility close to his home, and since there's only one "Level One" prison that fit that bill and there was no good reason for the judge not to grant that request, the chances he'd go to that prison were excellent.

And each game I've played has gone to the wire - it's never clear who is going to win. Takes a long time to play, though. And I keep itching to paint the pieces.

Yeah, I'm thinking I may paint just the bases, to make the set-up easier. Incidentally, I took it out tonight to check it out; first comment: "Heffalumps! Ooh, evil heffalumps."

Gloom and Haunted House are the latest acquistions (by my DH the non-goth), and they are both cute. Gloom's hook is transparent plastic cards, so you can stack them and see through the stack. Also, Gorey-esque art.

I like the look of Gloom. It's not first on my priority list, though. That would be an Australian version of Trivial Pursuit. Not in the next few weeks, though. Bit of a cash flow issue.

Theodosia, was that the one called "Born Without a Face" on Discovery Health? I saw a few minutes of it, but quit watching when they showed the shot of the girl as a newborn because I knew it would upset me too much. Good to hear it has a relatively happy ending, if it's the program I'm thinking of.

This is actually the same reason why I skipped (and later caught up on) the first season of 24. But they managed to make the journey unpredicatable and exciting. So I figured I'd give PB a try too. So far, eh.
