What happened, Kristen?

I saw the cute external hard drive and immediately coveted it today. In fact, Lori and I went into the Apple Store and in short order almost bought a mighty mouse, a clock/radio/iPod docking station with speakers/ and new earphones.

Then reason prevailed.

I knew you would love the hard drive! I should take pictures of mine! (Though ita will mock me once more.)

And I had a convertible top malfunction. I'm kinda pissed about it. I've had the car for a year and there is a long list of things that have gone wrong with it. I mean, aside from the dead battery incident and now this, none of them have been major. But when you add up all the minor things that have/are broken? It's a long list and it makes me pissy.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Never going to have an affair.

And here I was thinking, wow, I really wanna go down on the newbie.

Now I'm shattered.

I'm bummed that if I bought my mac mini today, it would already have an airport card in it. Now I'll need to buy one and take it in and have it installed. Along with Tiger.

I am also getting a new iBook from work, I hear. Which is exciting and fun, even if it does have a giant Property of LAUSD etched into it.

YAY on the iBook! They're so cute.

I would be bummed with you except...well, mine was free. Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose. I might have to upgrade to Tiger myself since it seems I need the latest Java for some stuff and can't get it with Panther.

Allyson, what are you allegedly confused and/or humorless about? Nevermind. I read too quickly.

Is Teppy around? Katrina will hit Ohio on Wednesday. Of course, it will be significantly weaker by then, but it still will be some nasty weather for folks there.

It's supposed to be a tropical depression by the time it hits us. They're calling for it to sweep right over Columbus on Wednesday. We're already planning for indoor activities. Bleh. Although at least it's not a hurricane.

Yeah, it's too weird that it'll still have enough power to be a tropical depression and not just a storm, you know? I mean, we're OHIO! After us, there's CANADA! That makes Ohio pretty far north for a tropical freaking depression.

I believe we're supposed to start getting rain and t-storms tomorrow night, and get the whammy on Tuesday. (Of course, *our* whammy is going to be nothing compared to NOLA's whammy.)

At least that's what my mom would try to say. But she'd be wrong. I can be choosey!

At least that's what my mom would try to say.

I think I get it from my grandmother. Along with the freaky superstitious stuff.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am a food curmudgeon.

I think you are not a food curmudgeon until you have complained loudly at a restaurant that haricot verts literally translates to green beans, and if they want to say there are green beans then they should just cop to their being ordinary green beans.

(I was informed, with a sniff, that haricot verts are Extra Special green beans, younger and tenderer and more likely to levitate in circles over your plate than the ordinary kind.)

I don't have a problem with spice-conservatism -- if adobo is as far as you go, it's as far as you go -- as long as people recognize that chickenis not supposed to be the texture of a hockey puck. I knew a guy in grad school who really thought that Applebee's was fine dining. I mean, we were grad students, but come on!

(My personal odyssey out of spice-conservatism was facilitated by a Vedic nun from Santa Barbara teaching me how to make Indian curry from scratch. Once I owned turmeric, coriander, cayenne, ginger, and actual, real garlic, it sort of behooved me to find other dishes to cook with them.)
