And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy Anniversary, Jess and DH!

Thank you!

It's a bit weird this year because we're going out of town tomorrow for someone else's wedding. But we'll probably do something over Labor Day weekend.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Happy anniversary to Jessica and DH!

Happy happiness to billytea!

Yay for Robin!

I'm in a great mood this morning, partly because the weather right now is totally perfect. Cool in the mornings and evenings, even chilly at night, warm and sunny during the day. I love late summer/early fall. And I love middle and late fall, too. I had the best corn the other night, fresh local corn, sweet and rich and full-bodied. Harvest time makes me giddily happy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It really is perfect weather out. I was outside last night, vaguely wishing I had more on than a shirt and skirt, but not at all cold.

I was more depressed about the 60% of high school grads never complete a single book after leaving school.

Oh yeah. And how many of those people never finished a book while IN high school?

My drive in was the most insane obstacle course. Cement trucks, dump trucks, cement trucks hitting tree limb, tree limbs, psycho cutting off drivers, cement puddles, suddenly closed lanes..... should have stayed home.

ita, if you've got the kind of insurance coverage that makes you get refills by mail, you probably want to make sure you can get all your malarial script now. I spent a frustrating afternoon arguing with insurance and pharmacists to get them to give me the full course (because for some stupid reason, the full course under my insurance was prescription plus refill. Hopefully you won't have this problem) for the trip. Finally got it into their head that mailing meds to me to an undisclosed location in Zambia wasn't really going to work.

I had sticker shock from all the innoculations and drugs.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

A sneaky-minded friend of mine had apartment neighbors who held ultra-loud parties despite his polite protests and complaints to landlord, et cetera. And it was in a college town, too, so the police were pretty blase about the noise thing. Then one day he noticed that the circuit breaker panel for the apartments was in the common area of the basement, right near the stairs up to his back door, and rather inconveniently placed for the loud apartment inhabitants.

So he'd wait until their parties really got going, sneak down, trip their circuit breakers and sneak back quickly to his darkened apartment, while the drunk frat boys stumbled around trying to figure out why their electricity had cut out.

This went on for maybe six months, until they moved out, because the landlord and electrician could never figure out why their wiring had a defect.

So two words of advice to flea: grounded boltcutters.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

You know, ita, there was an article in the NYT a few weeks ago about muscle and weight loss-- it's for pay now, but I remember one of the things it noted was that you can't diet & build muscle at the same time-- not that you're dieting, but rather that you need to ingest an excess of calories to build muscle. My point being: EAT, girl.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I remember one of the things it noted was that you can't diet & build muscle at the same time

There was something like that in Runner's World a couple months ago, too.

Theo, your friend is brilliant.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So he'd wait until their parties really got going, sneak down, trip their circuit breakers and sneak back quickly to his darkened apartment, while the drunk frat boys stumbled around trying to figure out why their electricity had cut out.

I've done that once or twice.

Art Crawl!!!

Happy Anniversary Jessica and Fone!!!

ION, I have downloaded GoogleTalk. I like the little talk bubble that it uses. I've invited three people who I know that have gmail. So far, nobody has accepted.

I am a leper.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Sumi, I plan on doing that this weekend, and then we can form a leper colony.
