Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

How hard would it be to change the html title of the message center, to add the number of unread posts at the end?

For example, currenty the title of Bloglines is

Bloglines | My Feeds (12)

telling me at a glance to Firefox tab for that page that I have 12 unread blog posts on Bloglines.

Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to have if this was an easy thing to do.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

At the time the header is generated, the code doesn't know how many posts are unread. In fact, the page never knows--the thread titles (with unread counts) are returned to it as text from another function.

So there'd be more tweaking than might first seem required.

Yeah, I was afraid of that.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Architecturally, there's more integrity in assembling the HTML in just one place--it's kinda cheating to put it together in three, like it currently works.

A streamlining job, while nowhere near imminent, is probably a good idea.

Weren't we able to put <table>s inside posts at some point?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

We still are, AFAIK.

Let's see...

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

This probably has something to do with the tables, but in Safari, Tom Scola's post Tom Scola "Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach" Jan 15, 2006 4:30:11 am PST

appears above later posts and above the "Read New Message Center First [etc] links. It is also left justified. eta: I took a screen shot of it I could send someone, if this isn't clear.

eta: unless you are viewing it by itself with no other posts on the page. If you do that, it is normal.

I deleted my post because I thought that my table was screwing up the page. It looks like someone else's post is the problem.

It is someone else's post, Tom, since that still happens, even after deletion.
