I marked two posts in the same thread on two separate occasions, each time by separate authors.
My bookmarks appeared as a double bookmark by the same author, same post (ETA: the second post I marked). Adding a description changed both posts. Deleting one post deleted both doubles, and the first post I'd marked then appeared.
ETA 2: when I add a new bookmark from another thread, the previous bookmark disappears and I get 2x the new post.
ETA 3: When I add a third bookmark from a third thread, the previous double bookmark is replaced by a new double bookmark, the most recent one added, doubled.
Okay--please check the bookmarks (that was a weird-assed bug, but whatevs, I hope it's dead). I'll work on the email tomorrow.
Oh hey, clicking on "log out" doesn't actually log me out.
Guys, really bad news.
b.org was hacked again; WAY worse than the last time this happened. The operating system is thoroughly compromised and rooted. It can't be repaired, it can only be nuked from orbit. Which means we have to move to a new host ASAP. I don't know how much help iStrata will be; they seem pretty pissed at us because of all the bandwidth the hackers used to commit a DDOS attack from our server, and we're probably going to end up owing them a whole bunch of money.
And this couldn't have happened at a worse time. ita is out of commission right now, and frankly, I'm going through a rough patch myself. I got maybe an hour's sleep last night, and I'm basically running of fumes right now. I don't know how much help I can be, either.
What can we do, Tom? Anything?
Correct me if I'm wrong, testers--logging out and emailing admins are the only extant bugs?
Logging out is a priority 1 deal, but so is not being here anymore, je pense.
I'm also in a not good place for this, but needs as what the fuck ever. Our code is in a decent place to move--we need a good home.
We need to:
- find a new home (PHP 5.3.17 or lower)
- point a first domain that's not this
- migrate code from my test home
- test really fucking quickly
- shut down here
- copy data
- import data in new home
- point b.org to new digs
- stop getting hacked
I throw dreamhost into the ring for #1--they're solid, but they have performed server moves and random upgrades that broke much simpler code than this, and been unhelpful in troubleshooting. Don't know cost for this app.
It will probably require a few hours of downtime to migrate the data-- export, copy, import. Hopefully I can do this before the weekend, but I doubt I can do it before then.
Other site hosts? Things I'm forgetting? People who magically want to do all the heavy lifting?
WORST COMES TO WORST we (uh, I) can hurriedly export the tables, copy them, and import them into my test domain.
BUT I HAVE NO IDEA IF I'LL GET DRY FUCKED ON RESOURCE UTILISATION IN THE MEANWHILE,
There's no good week for this, but I'm typing from the hospital bed I was
admitted
to a few hours ago. This is a lousy week.
Oh god, you guys, I wish there were anything I can do on the technical end. I can run a fund drive, at least.
Well, shitballs.
I'm happy to donate a few hours and a few $. Is donations@ the right address to use?
