No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

BTW, I think the no-malware notice has finally propogated: the alt site is off the blacklist.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You were still having problems when I posted in Press?

Yes. I couldn't get in yesterday.

Wait--it stops you from getting in? Chrome had originally warned me, but I swear it still let me go in.

That's kinda sketch.

But Chrome wasn't giving me any error messages before I made that post--that's why I made it. Rob, do you have any idea where that blacklist would need to propagate to, and why it would entirely prevent someone from overriding it?

I really don't think a web browser should be there to tell you where you can and can't go. Giving you warnings so you can make your decisions is fine, but Netnannying? That's too intrusive to my experience.

The Google warning was picked up by commercial webfiltering companies, among which was the webnanny used by my employers. So I was unable to get into the alt site while at work.

I'm tickled pink we're banned, which helps absolute zero banned people.

Sorry for being remarkably helpful and on top of things.

I do think I worked it out--the test website code at www.buffistas.net was infected. Same things as got me. So based on that, they threw the bathwater out without even checking to see what was in the tup. Even thought subdomains have no inherent codebase sharing, I guess I can see what they're aiming to do -- they're a massive company and responding to every websmaster's plea (despite our massive number of employers wasting company time here (don't disabuse me of the notiion that you Ooglers don't have a 15 minute forum break where mundanes would be chatting over coffees or playing foozeball, and also there are tablet computers installed in Seque handlebars, and you zip around your massive buildings reading fic to your heartly (if that's where your fic is targeted) delight.

But on the flip side (not of the leaking money like a sieve scenario), if they can stop people from going to sites (I don't remember if it was search or Chrome browser that left me without a simple method to get where I was trying to go without switching browsers. ANd my remember level of frustration must mean it was search, since I find switching search engines more @@+::sigh:: (aka teeneagered end of the world) than changing browsers for one answer.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Someone remind me to renew the .com and .net domains this weekend, before they get shut off?

Thanks. (Am hoping that typing this will do it by itself...)

Because books.

Jesse, renew the .com and .net domains!

I just restarted my laptop, and I'm still getting a weird thing that's happening only here -- whatever is below the bottom of the screen is essentially spoiler-fonted when I scroll down. I have to highlight it all, and then it stays put. But it's spoiler-fonting everything, not just message text -- user names, timestamps, diving lines, the sidebars, the posting box ...

Any ideas? This is Chrome on a Windows laptop.
