Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

From where I'm standing, the maintaining our own versions of infrastructure components is the complicated option, and the cleaning up the code to be in line with a language that came out 8 years ago is me stopping being lazy.

If there's a rush to leave, it is quicker. But I don't think it's long term wiser.

Fair enough.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I don't usually venture in here because I'd be as useless as [insert your own pithy simile here]. I recently switched to Chrome and every time I access the alt.buffistas.net site (b.org is blocked at work), I get the following malware notice.

Warning: Something's Not Right Here!

www.alt.buffistas.net contains malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site.

Google has found malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. If you've visited this site in the past or you trust this site, it's possible that it has just recently been compromised by a hacker. You should not proceed, and perhaps try again tomorrow or go somewhere else.

We have already notified www.alt.buffistas.net that we found malware on the site. For more about the problems found on www.alt.buffistas.net, visit the Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page.

Didn't know if it was something y'all needed to know about.

For reasons I don't understand, Google refuses to review the site, or tell me why alt.buffistas.net is compromised and buffistas.org is not, since...exactly the same code. So if there's an issue, it's something I don't understand.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

When .org was hacked a little bit back, I was getting that kind of message from Google when I tried to go to the .net site instead.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I get that every time I restart my computer and go to the alt. site for the first time.

So the malware association is still there, and now the DoD webfilter blocks the alt site as a malw site. Can this be corrected somehow?

Not unless someone has an idea other than the instructions Google gives for resolving it, no. I've followed those instructions three times now, and to no effect.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just got an email from a possibly Russian company called Yandex about buffistas.net:

Some of the pages on your website may pose a threat to your visitor's computer security. The number of potentially harmful pages is 0.

So that's....something.

Yeah, Google doesn't have to pay individual attention to us, and so far they're not. I've submitted for review again, and pointed out it's the same site as b.org, so expect to see that IDed as malware in the near future...
