Woe to the fucking wicked.

I've changed the spoiler font color and page background color (which is how I discovered that the message center graphic has a white background)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm all "there's a graphic on the message center page?" I dropped all the images out of my style, so I have nothing but the buttons. It's my work-friendly (ironic!) stylesheet, with less colour and fewer pictures.

All those title graphics have white backgrounds, don't they? I mean the edit and delete, etc. They'd probably look pretty messy with a transparent background on a coloured page. Such is the limitation of GIF transparency.

I wonder how extensive PNG transparency support is these days.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

The Buffistas.org logo in the left corner seems to be transparent. The buttons don't bug me because of the outlines.

::pokes around site::

Yeah, the only one I notice looking odd is "message center"

Really? What colour did you switch your background to?

Huh.

From poking around on b.net it seems that edit, etc, have backgrounds too.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It's a pale grey. (I always used to turn my screen brightness way down because the white was really white, so, given the opportunity, I went with something less bright)

huh.

I have no idea why you didn't see background in the others--only the board logo had a transparent background. I tried them out on b.net, and they're messy in other distinct colours. I'm not sure whether it's an upgrade to lose the crisp edges, even if the rectangle is obtrusive.

Other opinions?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Such is the limitation of GIF transparency.

Indeed. At the time I designed all the graphics, I didn't think other colored backgrounds were an issue, so I didn't bother trying to make them transparent. But they would probably look crappy on other colored backgrounds transparent or not.

I tried a transparent-backed PNG for the message center image, and it still looks like crap. Can you try one from the good original, just to see?

Also, do you have time to look through the CSS again? I found a handful of pages that were still using hardcoded formatting, and between that and the diagramming I was wondering if anything could be cleaned up. I'd at least like to ask you some questions about the current styling so I can beef up the comments in the file so I don't make the same stupid mistakes I made this morning.

I'm pretty busy with other projects at the moment, but I'll see what I can do. You can always email me with questions (I just answered (sort of) the one you sent.

Cool. Main other thing I'm thinking is missing are breadcrumbs for the folder structure. Where do you think they should go? I was thinking of making a list inline and putting it...maybe opposite the navbar, on the left side? Above or below them?

Also thinking that the navbar and the list of folders on the index/message center pages should be a collapsed list too, for semantic reasons, and for manipulation purposes.
